Hello there fellow RealmCrafter users!
As veteran RealmCrafter users would know, during my early days of RealmCrafter I would start making a project and then abandon it a week or two later to work on another project (or sometimes work on two or three projects at the same time), none of which were particularly good (apart from one or two that look promising). Unfortunately, all screenshots (and the projects themselves) are lost forever however I was working on a project last year. This project has been (like most of my game-related projects) abandoned for just over a year now. I am posting some of the screenshots I have (there are more, but they were more or less me just testing importing Arteria3D models). I'll even contain a bit more of a description of the overall idea of the game at the bottom of this post (there will be some text underneath each of the screenshots though for context). But for now - the images!
The Port
Ah yes, the port! This was the first zone I worked on I believe. This was going to be a small fun zone which will connect several of the islands in the game together and was meant to be one of the few non PVP zones in the game. Despite me working on this zone first, this screenshot was taken shortly before I abandoned development on this game as you can see with me using the newer (well not new any more, but the 2010) player model, 2010 water and sky textures and the 2010 GUI. Other than the player models, the other models were purchased off Arteria 3D.
Tutorial Zone
This would have been the tutorial zone for the game. The basic story of this zone was that the Orcs have attacked this small city and the player must kill as much of the orcs (which according to the quest text would have been five) as they can and then escape with the king. This would have also acted as one of the game's "end zones" to end the story.
Tutorial Dungeon
The first dungeon of the game. This dungeon connected the tutorial zone with the world's mall/hub zone.
The Dead Zone + Fog Test
This zone would have contained many undead creatures for players to slay. Just up ahead you can see the opening to a dungeon called "The Crypt" (which at that/this point was just the crypt model that was sold by Solstar Games on their website before it shut down). As you can see in the image, I was messing around with the fog to try and create a more "spooky" atmosphere.
Druid Spell Test
I don't really remember the story behind this zone however in this screenshot I was testing a druid spell called "bear form" which, as you can see, transforms the player into a bear (and would have increased your strength too). There were plans for other animal forms for players who pick the druid class which would have changed different player stats. Everything else I remember from this zone was two side quests - "Sierra's box of things" where you had to find the boxes that a character called Sierra left around and another quest that was titled "Overpopulation" where you would have had to kill 15 wild animals in the zone as they would attack the local human characters.
Anyway, the idea of the game was that it would have been an online RPG that would have played more like a single player RPG. The player would be a lone guard for a king whose city just got attacked by vicious Orcs who would be on a quest to unite the armies of the world to fight back against the Orcs. A very simple story as you can see. Each zone would have had its own story (somewhat like a "level" I suppose). The game would have been very linear and had an actual end (quite unusual for an MMO/Online RPG). There was no source edits and the game was made up off a mish mash of Solstar and Arteria3D models. The game was also suppose to have somewhat of a hybrid class system so (for example) you may have picked Warrior on the character creation screen as your primary class however you could also buy Druid spells or Mage spells and be a Warrior who happens to be a spell caster (not a very powerful spell caster mind you as Druids and Mages would have stats which would work better for spellcasters).
I stopped this project back in June 2017 after just under a year of working on and off on it. Not a very impressive project I must admit however I'm hoping that posting an abandoned project I worked on will bring some life into the Showcase or WIP areas of the forum and have people post their own projects (whether their projects are being worked on or abandoned).
Thanks for reading/looking and hope to see other projects being posted here soon!
