I'm so sad they discontinued X10 version of FPSC. I still have the original Disc at home but it just sits there sad that it was never truly updated to a decent state before being abandoned.

FPSC is open-source now, and the community has run with it, producing some great additions. Check out the Black Ice Mod, if you get a chance. It's looking really good, I just wish that it were possible to build 3rd person games in FPSC. :/

I just wish that it were possible to build 3rd person games in FPSC. :/ I remember that someone actually did (or was developing) a 3rd person game in FPSC. Obviously they tinkered with the engine a bit but hey, it happened. Plus GameGuru (which was originally called FPS Creator Reloaded) does allow users to develop 3rd person games (though these don't play well compared to first person games from when I last played around with the engine which is quite a while back).

Yes, I almost purchased GameGuru (in spite of multiple negative reviews) because it looked easier and prettier than RCS, but they honestly told me that my pc/graphics card wouldn't meet its requirements and also that third-person capability was limited.

I bought GameGuru and it's not bad. They just updated to DX11 and PBR graphics. Fixed a lot of bugs and it is easy to use. But not very good at multi-player at the moment. They are working on a stand-alone multiplayer fix though.

It's honestly not too bad. If you're expecting GameGuru to basically be FPS Creator 3.0 (which it basically is since it was originally called FPS Creator Reloaded) then you'll have a blast with it - it comes with quite a bit of content and the add on packs aren't too badly price (plus they're on sale fairly often). If you want to make a 3rd person game with GameGuru then you're going to have a bad time, if you're planning to make a FPS game with it then you'll be fine with it. On top of this, if you have AppGame Kit then you can import your levels into it.

I have a ton of FPSC content filling my hard drive, but I haven't played with it much in the three years since I downloaded everything available for it. I've barely started to understand Brisk, so I wasn't very keen on learning another scripting language just to make first-person shooters. If GG is ever able to compete with RC's networking, and also able to add third-person support, I might consider switching engines, but in the meantime, I'm quite comfortable right here at home.
